Holme House

Holme House is a large Category B Local Prison for male adult prisoners who are either remanded in custody or convicted, which opened in May 1992. Holme House can also accommodate a small number of Young Offenders provided that they are un-sentenced.


The prison serves primarily the communities of the Tees Valley, South West Durham, East Durham and North Yorkshire.

Accommodation: Seven self-contained living units with integral sanitation. A mixture of single and double cells.


Operational Capacity: 1211 as of May 2010


Reception Criteria: Unconvicted and convicted male adult prisoners and unconvicted male young adults.
