Erlestoke

HMP Erlestoke is a Category C establishment holding adult male sentenced prisoners. The prison is built on the former grounds of Erlestoke Manor House and has over the past few years expanded in both prisoner numbers and intervention programmes aimed to reduce the re-offending of prisoners.

The establishments focus is firmly fixed on preparing prisoners for their release through accredited intervention programmes, skill and vocational based training and education as well as providing pro-social modelling through a progressive regime.

Fax: 01380 814273

Governor: Andy Rogers

Accommodation: The prison currently has 8 residential units which are predominantly single cells with in cell sanitation. The induction unit has double cell accommodation to support prisoners on their first night at Erlestoke.

Operational Capacity: 470 as at 08 December 2008

Reception Criteria: Erlestoke is not equipped to deliver a regime and living environment to wheelchair bound prisoners. The prison is intervention focussed (IDTS, ETS, 12 Step Programme and HRP – see the regime section) and whilst it will accept all Category C prisoners, they will need to engage in the community ‘feel' of the prison. The prison provides health care provision but does not have in-patient facilities.
