HMP & YOI Moorland consists of Moorland Open and Moorland Closed.


Moorland Closed prison is located near Doncaster in Yorkshire.

Accommodation: 5 Houseblocks; 180 double cells; 434 single cells


Reception Criteria:


Yoi's: All sentences, up to & inc Lifers. No juveniles. No Rule 46. No further Charges ‘E' list – on approval only. No outstanding Hosp. Appts within next 3 months. No medicals without prior agreement of HCC Sec 53/2 by approval with: a) sending establishment, and b) Sec 53/2 Section. If subject to Parole not within 9 mths of PED. At least 6 months left to serve. No deports. No SOTP.


Adult: Must be Category ‘C' All sentences, not inc. Lifers. No further. Charges No deports. No SOTP. No medicals without prior agreement of HCC. No outstanding Hosp. Appts within next 3 months. No current or previous sexual crimes against males under the age of 21. If subject to Parole not within 9 mths of PED. At least 6 months left to serve.


Regime: Offending Behaviour groups included Enhanced Thinking Skills Courses, Welfare to Work and Job Clubs. There is also a Listener Scheme for those prisoners who may be at risk from suicide or self-harm. Community projects are also an option.
