An Official Prison Visitor is someone who visits prisoners regardless of whether they have visits from family and friends. Someone who has time to listen in confidence and show respect to a prisoner.
They will commit themselves to visit a prisoner on a regular basis, normally this will usually be around two hours a month.
The National Association of Official Prison Visitors (NAOPV) co-ordinates the activities of Official Prison Visitors and provides training and support for volunteers. Contact
