GALIPS is the Prison Service LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender) Staff Support Network. It supports all staff and managers, regardless of their sexual orientation, with advise on LGBT issues.
The network strives to promote the end of discrimination against LGBT staff and works with existing staff networks in furthering the work of the Prison Service on diversity and equality issues.
GALIPS aims to achieve this by:
- providing a network of confidential support to LGBT members of HM Prison Service
- offering support and assistance to those handling LGBT issues in the workplace
- raising awareness amongst staff of the needs of LGBT staff
- supporting policy teams to ensure that LGBT issues are mainstreamed into their policies
- creating links across other Government Departments, Criminal Justice Agencies, their networks and other links within the LGBT community.
Membership to GALIPS is free, and is open to all staff with an interest in LGBT issues, those seeking help and advice, and anyone wishing to support the network, whether or not they identify as LGBT. For further details about GALIPS please contact:
